Problem Solving SLOs developed in Fall 2005:
HISTORY
In our department we teach students to approach problem solving by gathering research data, analyzing, evaluating, and rephrasing data, critiquing competing analyses, and presenting historical data in written and/or oral format.

ETHNIC STUDIES
In our department we teach students to approach problem solving by developing skills of research and analysis in order to understand the social dynamics of race, class, and culture in the contemporary world. Students apply the dialectical method to historical and contemporary affairs to understand the role of social diversity, history, race, class, and gender in modern society. Students develop problem-solving skills that are interdisciplinary and based on primary source materials.

POLITICAL SCIENCE
In our department we teach students to approach problem solving by analyzing and comparing theories and concepts of political structures, institutions, policies, and practices, and the manner in which power is perceived, acquired, distributed, and used.
